| Do
the Albini & Fontanot staircases comply with UK Building Regulations?
The Spiral
staircases are available in a wide range of diameters. The 1500mm
diameter spiral staircases will usually comply with
BS5395 Part 2 Category A Small Private Stair. This covers
access to a single bedroom. The BS5395 Part 2 specifies
certain sizes for certain uses and is referred to in the UK Building
Regs. If you are thinking of using one of the Albini &
Fontanot Spirals as your
main stair i.e. accessing more than one bedroom, you would need to
specify a large diameter, such as the 1900mm or 2000mm.
You can download a copy of the BS5395 Part 2 from our Services
Page.
We will always work with you on your project to ensure that the
staircase is exactly as you need.
The modular
staircases would need to be designed with a correct configuration to
comply with the UK Building Regulations and, again, we will work
with you to get this right.
You would also need
to install riserbars to fit between the open treads to comply with
the Building Regulations' 100mm gap rule. These are also available
on our accessories
page. The
Italian building regulations are not as restrictive as in the UK,
and some of their balustrading designs will not comply with our
regulations. In general terms, the Genius range with the 020
style balustrading will comply, but you may need to discuss
your project with your local Building Control department if you are
considering some of the other designs. |
