| Does
the Modus Spiral stair comply with UK Building Regulations?
The Modus Spiral
staircase is available in 2 diameters. The 1400mm diameter has been produced by
Modus specifically for the UK market and this staircase will comply with
BS5395 Part 2 Category A Small Private Stair. This covers
access to a single bedroom. The BS5395 Part 2 specifies
certain sizes for certain uses and is referred to in the UK Building
Regs. If you are thinking of using the Modus Spiral with the
1200mm diameter, you would need to
ask for a relaxation from your local Building control department to
use a smaller diameter than required in the British Standard.
You can download a copy of the BS5395 Part 2 from our Services
Page.
The 1400mm diameter
model 2050S has a special understep component to fit between the open treads to comply with
the Building Regulations' 100mm gap rule. These are also available
on our accessories
page. |

| Is
it possible to connect the Modus handrailing to some balustrading on
my top landing?
Yes, you can buy
the matching balustrading to use on your stairwell or mezzanine
floor, as shown on the right. You'll find more details on our accessories
page. |

| Do
I need to specify whether my Modus Spiral needs to turn to the
left or right before I order?
No. The Modus
Spiral kit can be installed in a clockwise or anti-clockwise ascent
at the time of installation.

|
| |
| What
shape is the
landing tread?
There is a choice
of three landing treads available for your Modus spiral. You
can select a circular landing tread (for a circular opening), a
triangular tread or a trapezoidal tread.
