There are a fantastic amount of exciting things to do in the West Country whether you are on a day trip, weekend break or a whole week.  You can choose leisurely pursuits or exhilarating adventures - the West Country has it all!
Trains and boats and planes...

(apologies for the not very subtle musical theme on this page!)

Sea of Dreams...

Warmed by the Gulf Stream, Cornwall uncoils into the Atlantic ... an ancient, seafaring kingdom and a mecca for international sports.

Of all England's counties, Cornwall has the longest coastline - 327 miles of river estuaries, creeks and inlets, great granite cliffs, sandy beaches busy ports and fishing harbours. Indeed, few, if any, regions in Europe offer such a diversity of conditions. So if your pleasure is riding the gigantic Atlantic surf, casting your line into the wreck of a galleon or merely pottering along a scenic creek or estuary in a dinghy, you'll find Cornwall can supply it in abundance.

I am sailing...

You can jump aboard a fishing boat and gently sail around Lyme Bay, drifting your fingers along in the foamy wake or casting a line for a fresh mackerel.  You only need to walk around the Cobb to find plenty of eager fishing boat owners happy to welcome you on board.  We would definitely recommend "Sunbeam II" - you'll have such fun with this boat and skippers - Joe May and Tobey Fenn. Their contact no. is 07702 796796.

When the boat comes in...

Dunkeswell Memorial Museum is dedicated to all Veterans of United States Fleet Air Wing 7 and RAF personnel who served on the only American Navy Air base commissioned on UK soil during World War 2. The USN FAW7 was operational from mid 1943 to the end of European hostilities in 1945. Through the perseverance of a small group of people who became fascinated by what history may have happened here fifty years ago, the museum now gives the opportunity for visitors of all ages to discover the importance and very special roles that the American service men of US Navy Base Dunkeswell played during World War 2. 3 Squadrons of PB4Y-1 Liberator bombers and over 5000 men served here to help in the defeat of the German U-boat menace and maintain a high profile aerial presence in the Battle of the Atlantic.
